Ways to Prepare Your Outdoor Space for Summer

Ways to Prepare Your Outdoor Space for Summer

Summer is just around the order. but is your backyard space ready for it? There are many ways to prepare and here we’ve outlined a few that we find to be the most fun, important, and helpful.

Clean Up!

Tidy up your space! This means mow the lawn, pull the weeds, clean up any junk, (if it’s been there for more than two years without you thinking about it, think about it again!), inspect your furniture and see if it needs some TLC. Look at your yard from the perspective of a guest who hasn’t seen it before, or maybe saw it last year in its prime. What are the parts you expect them to focus on first? Think about ways you can clean it up to make sure it gives the impression you’re looking for.

If you need more space to keep your outdoor area from looking cluttered, using vertical wall space can be helpful along with unobtrusive storage solutions. Add outdoor shelves on walls or sturdy fence posts using some of our hanging brackets! Use the shelves to store things like backyard games, decorations, or yard maintenance supplies. If you have bikes or items that are helpful to have easy access to and store outside, they can be hung on the brackets directly! Just put up one of our sturdiest brackets, like our Right Angle Countertop bracket, add a little padding to protect the bracket and your item, and hang it up and out of the way!

Update!

Once your space is tidied up, it’s ready for some updates!

For those who enjoy outdoor cooking and entertaining, now could be a great time to add in an outdoor cooking area! Add in some half walls and countertops to carve out the cooking space. Ensure the countertops will be supported for years to come with some Right on Bracket countertop support brackets!

If you enjoy cooking and growing your own ingredients, now could also be a great time to utilize vertical space in your growing. On a wall with the ideal amount of sunlight for the plants you want to grow, put shelves on it. Use brackets on the fence posts or wall and lay boards across them. In the boards, cut out holes that perfectly fit your pots, allowing them to sit in it and still drain out the bottom. With the plants still able to drain, also keep in mind the water requirements of each. If you do not alternate the plants on the shelves and instead put them directly above each other keep in mind that watering the plants above, may also water the plants below. This can be great for reducing your water usage, but is something to keep in mind when arranging the plants on the wall.

Decorate!

Look into decorating your outdoor seating area! This could mean going as far as replacing the furniture if it no longer suits you or is beyond saving. However, most of the time, this will include cleaning up the furniture, maybe replacing the cushions, and adding in some more décor! What would make the area more enjoyable to hang out in? What is the one piece that you regularly wish was there when you enjoy your time outside? These are great questions to answer before making changes to ensure they fulfill the function you want them to!

Another way to decorate your space would be to add in additional lighting to help you take advantage of those cool nights! Free standing lights are great for seating areas in the center of the yard. However, if you want to include more hanging lights on the walls or fence posts, use a bracket to hang them from! This allows you to light up your backyard space with more than just string lights.

When it comes to hanging things from fence posts, brackets are a great option that is both sturdy and durable! They can be used to hang flower baskets, bird feeders, or even wind chimes! It’s a great way to utilize all your available space without needing to use items that are free standing. This allows you to save ground space for other things you find important to you! Like yard games, more seating, or gardening.

Take the time to get ahead of your backyard now so you can enjoy more of it later!
