Floating Shelf Brackets

What Are Floating Brackets?

Floating Shelf Brackets suspend a wooden shelf or mantel while remaining invisible or nearly invisible. Floating shelves and mantels are a modern design that needs specially designed hardware. When a shelf is floating, you can put items on the shelf or below without a standard shelf bracket being in the way. Floating designs look great, but you need to make sure they’re designed well…

Weight Capacity

There are many different designs out there that will create a floating shelf, but some designs are much stronger than others. Shelves and mantels need to withstand a high weight capacity, so the brackets need to be designed with this in mind.

We make our products extremely strong so you can have a modern design with high strength. They’re all designed to mount to wall studs, whether that’s through the drywall or directly to the wall stud. When you’re installing floating hardware, this is extremely important to remember. Drywall anchors can work alongside multiple hits on a wall stud, but we don’t recommend only drywall anchors to support a shelf. An anchor might be “rated” for a certain weight, but over time drywall can crumble and loosen the mount, creating an issue.

Types of Shelf Brackets

Several brackets are invisible when installed, some are hardly visible. If you’re looking for a medium strength bracket that can hold around 100 pounds that’s completely invisible, our Floating Shelf Bracket is the perfect choice. Once your shelf is ready, these brackets area easy to install and support more weight than competing brands. This is due to the solid steel core and how the rods are welded to the mounting plate.

If you’re looking for an extremely strong bracket, our Heavy Duty Floating Shelf Bracket is exactly what you need. This bracket mounts to the side of the stud, so you have to remove drywall to do so. This bracket is a little more difficult to install, but once installed it can hold well over 200 pounds. Depending on the size you get, this bracket can support nearly anything you need, and it’s floating!

If you combine the two brackets above, you’ll get our Floating Mantel Bracket. This support bracket mounts to the side of a stud, but has a 3/4″ solid steel dowel that protrudes out. This is designed for mantels, but can be used for very thick shelves as well. Just like our Heavy Duty Floating Shelf Bracket, it can hold well over 200+ pounds an still create a “floating” design.
