8.5″ Mantel Bracket
Our Floating Mantel Brackets are a perfect way to support a floating mantel above a fireplace. These heavy duty brackets install directly to wall studs and the dowel sticks out from the wall. After you drill holes in the back of your mantel, the solid steel dowels slide right inside your mantel. The mantel will then be “floating” and the bracket is completely hidden from view. A fireplace mantel looks great in any house, cabin, apartment, or condo!
Product Specifications:
Bracket dowel is 3/4″ thick. Made of solid steel.
Bracket dowel is 8.5″ from mounting plate.
Dowel length options are measured from the edge of the mounting plate.
Mounting plate is: 3/16″ thick
Mounting Plate is 2 1/2″ wide, x 8″ tall, x 3/16″ thick.
6 total 1/4″ stud mounting holes.
Bracket can be installed on either left or right side of wall stud.
Bracket is buffed to give smooth edges and eliminate any burrs.
Powder coated black to prevent against corrosion and rust.
Weight Capacity:
Make sure high quality mounting hardware is used to secure bracket to wall stud.
Specific max load/weight capacities per bracket are detailed in the diagram.
Examples:
One 9.5″ long bracket has a weight capacity of 200 lbs.
Two 9.5″ long brackets have a weight capacity of 400 lbs.
Installation Tips:
Hardware Not Included.
When mounting to wood wall studs; we recommend 1/4″ lag screws 1.5″ long. Make sure you drill pilot holes to avoid cracking!
We recommend using a laser level to ensure your mounting holes are level with each other.
Drill a 3/4″ hole the length of your mantel bracket dowel into the back of the mantel. This is where the bracket dowel is installed.
Once your bracket is installed and mounting holes are drilled, simply slide the mantel onto the dowels. We recommend putting a dab of adhesive in the mounting holes so the mantel is secure once dry
If your mantel is light/small and you don’t have access to the wall studs, our Floating Shelf Bracket can be used to install a mantel as well.
Bracket Size Recommendations:
When choosing the bracket/dowel length, note you’ll want the length to be at least 50% the depth of your mantel.
Example: If you have a 10″ deep mantel, a 6.5″ mantel bracket would be perfect.
Example: If you have a 14″ deep mantel, a 9.5″ mantel bracket would be perfect.
When deciding on the bracket length, also consider the thickness of the drywall.
